NST, August 12th, 2002 - Westport Malaysia at Port Klang has taken delivery of 30 units of Terbeg Terminal Tractors from Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd which is expected to enhance its landside container handling operations.

The terminal tractors, costing RM7.5 million, are manufactured locally by Tractors Manufacturing & Assembly Sdn Bhd, in Pasir Gudang.

"The delivery of new equipment had raised our prime mover fleet at Westport to 169 units. This means we have an average of 10 terminal tractors per quay crane at Westport container terminal," said its general manager for corporate service Abdul Malik Rahman.

Malik said the acquisition of the new equipment was part of Westport's plan to ensure a higher level of efficiency and performance to its customers.

"The acquisition of additional terminal tractors is part of our effort to provide fast and reliable service to our 26 main line operators calling at our terminal," he added.
