January 28th, 2002 - KUALA LUMPUR,
Sun. - Westport has joined major
terminal operators in the race
to win the concession to operate
the deep sea hub port at Vallarpadam
in India.
It is understood
that Maersk Sealand and the
Dubai Ports Authority have all
thrown their hats into the ring,
joining the US terminal operators
CSX World Terminals and Hutchison
Port Holdings who have already
expressed an interest in the
southern Indian Terminal.
Shipping Minister
Vedprakash Goyal said the government
will compete the formalities
and award the project on build,
operate, transfer basis within
the next three months. |
