New clinic opens for folks in Pulau Indah By FREDERICK FERNANDEZ

THE 6,000 residents of Pulau Indah in Port Klang, now has a community clinic, opened by Klang Multi Terminal Sdn Bhd at its premises in Westport’s Business Centre.

The company has set up the clinic so that residents on the island will have greater access to medical care as the nearest private clinic is more than 10km away at Teluk Gong.

The move was in line with the company's caring policy.

Presently, the nearest medical facility for Pulau Indah residents is a public health centre which has a doctor visiting every Tuesday and Thursday.

Westport’s senior marketing manager Bob Lee said the setting up of the community clinic was a small way to repay the residents as the majority of its 2,100 staff came from the island.

“Dependents of the staff, namely spouses and children, will now be able to seek medical treatment at the community clinic for free while parents of staff will be charged only a nominal fee for treatment,” said Lee.

The clinic, which opened recently, has an attending doctor from Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 5pm.
