The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis whose first visit four years ago created and uproar, sailed into Westport, Klang , for another call yesterday.

The Nimitz.class behemoth, with 6,200 sailors, pilots and Marine Corps personnel aboard, docked at ll.30am on a liberty call. Carrier Group Seven commander Rear Admiral Patrick Walsh said the purpose of the visit was to allow its crew to enjoy Malaysian culture and to demonstrate US commitments to security in Southeast Asia and the Pacific area.
