PORT KLANG: One of the world's largest aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz, made its maiden call at West Port here.
The nuclear-powered US Navy vessel sailed into port yesterday for a five-day stop.
Commissioned in 1975, the USS Nimitz, which has a crew of more than 5,000, was accompanied by the guided missile cruiser USS Princeton.
Commanding officer Capt Ted Branch said the visit was to foster better relations between the United States and Malaysia.
He said the crew would be visiting interesting spots in Kuala Lumpur, including the Petronas Twin Towers.
