Klang, 18th September 2007: Siblings Puteri Rifqah Fahada bte Azhar, 8
and Muhammad Syakir Shazmeer bin Azhar, 13 will be taking part in the
World Youth Chess Championships in Antalya, Turkey from November 17 to
29, this year.
Puteri
Rifqah and Muhammad Syakir from Jenjarom, Banting, were selected to
represent the country after emerging national champions in their
respective age-group category recently.
Puteri Rifqah will participate in the Under-8 age group while Muhammad Syakir in the Under-14 category.
The
organizers, the International Chess federation (FIDE) has referred the
championships a real chess festival where future stars and world
champions are made.
The
sibling's father, Azhar bin Mohd Said, 43, a Planner at Westports Yard
Planning Department, is thankful to his employer for enabling his
children to participate in the world youth chess championships.
"I am thankful to Tan Sri G.Gnanalingam,
Executive Chairman of Westports Malaysia for giving an opportunity to
Puteri Rifqah and Muhammad Syakir to be among the cream of the world's
youth chess fraternity which will gather in Antalya, Turkey.
